Chapter 6: This Celebrity Just Wants to Study

Chapter 6: Did the Cameraman Take Something Wrong Today?

“Really no big gossip?”

“No, it’s been very calm. I’m even starting to think the show might flop.” Pu Tong ignored his mother’s suspicious gaze.

“Stop asking. Even if there is gossip, it’s not something a ‘variety show NPC’ like me would know!”

“So that’s how it is…” Ni Hui said disappointedly.

“Useless kid! Don’t you know how to take initiative? If you could win over a popular young actress, wouldn’t you go viral?”

Whether he would go viral or not, Pu Tong didn’t know—but if that day ever came, he probably wouldn’t want to live anymore.

“Don’t disturb my studying!”

“Oh? What’s gotten into you lately? So serious?” Ni Hui studied her son carefully, only feeling that he was becoming more and more unfamiliar.

“Don’t tell me you’ve fallen for some girl, feel inferior because of the gap, and started working hard?”

“You’ve read too many novels!”

Ni Hui reluctantly left, still feeling something was off about her son.

Pu Tong watched her leave and finally let out a breath of relief. Thankfully, he had hidden the fact that he was sitting next to Yu Wanwan at school—otherwise his clueless mother would definitely come up with some terrible ideas.

He really didn’t know when this “accompanying the prince while he studies” life would ever end.

Buzz buzz—the phone on the side vibrated, interrupting his train of thought.

“Who is it, disturbing my studying!” Pu Tong opened QQ and saw the friend request that had just arrived, instantly annoyed.

The avatar was a red koi fish, gender female, age 16.

“A fish… surname Yu, huh.”

Reject. Of course reject.

It was already bad enough that she disturbed his studies at school—now she wanted to disturb him at home too? So sinister!

Buzz.

Buzz buzz.

Buzz buzz buzz…

The constant vibrations made Pu Tong’s veins twitch. In the end, he barely restrained his anger and turned on silent mode.

Peace returned to the world.

“Why did you ignore my friend request?”

The next day, Pu Tong looked at his noisy deskmate and immediately regretted it.

Now it was even more distracting. He should have just accepted it and blocked her instead.

“I don’t know. I didn’t get it. You added the wrong person, right?” he pretended ignorance.

“Impossible! I got it from the homeroom teacher!”

So that smiling tiger Old Zhang really betrayed him—what a useless “fan of Yu Wanwan.”

“Maybe I didn’t notice. I’ll check at noon.”

“You’d better!”

Yu Wanwan clearly didn’t believe him anymore.

“I’ll post your QQ online and sell it for 50 yuan. With your fanbase, I’ll make a fortune!”

“Get lost!”

She even wanted to punch him, but held back since she was still an idol.

As long as she angered this guy, maybe he’d stop disturbing her studies.

Pu Tong’s mouth curled slightly in a victorious smile—but when he looked up, his smile froze instantly.

A camera.

Pointing right at his face.

Since when was the cameraman here?!

“Continue, continue!” Old Yang laughed honestly, realizing he was a bit too close and had disrupted the atmosphere.

Continue your head!

How could something like this be filmed?!

If this made it into the final cut of the variety show, he’d probably get cursed out by Yu Wanwan’s fans so badly he wouldn’t even recognize his own mother.

It probably wouldn’t be in the main episode… right? He was just a normal person with no popularity…

But better to avoid being filmed anyway.

Pu Tong didn’t think much of the interruption and continued focusing on studying.

But soon he noticed something was wrong.

Old Yang kept coming over during breaks and constantly filming him and Yu Wanwan.

“What’s different about me today?” Pu Tong couldn’t understand. He wasn’t even a celebrity.

No one answered him, so he could only accept his fate.

Did the cameraman take something wrong today?

“Oh right, this morning I noticed my guitar bag zipper was slightly open!” Yu Wanwan muttered quietly.

“You were on duty last night, right? Don’t tell me you did it?”

Pu Tong’s heart skipped a beat, but he forced a confused expression, scratching his head as if to say, “What are you talking about?”

The girl looked at him suspiciously but didn’t continue. Maybe she remembered wrong?

“By the way, when does your show air the first episode?”

“Huh? I think it’s this Saturday at 8 p.m. Why?”

“I want to see my own scenes,” Pu Tong smiled.

This was a lie.

He just wanted to confirm whether he actually had very few shots—he wouldn’t feel at ease otherwise.

“What? If you want screen time, just tell me!” Yu Wanwan pouted. “I’ll call the cameraman over.”

“Don’t—don’t you dare!”

Yu Wanwan’s eyes lit up as she looked at his panicked expression.

Interesting!

She didn’t know why he was so afraid of cameras, but this could definitely be used…

“Classmate, you don’t want to be filmed, right…”

“Ah?” The girl in the front row, Yi Zhi Xuenai, turned around blankly, unable to tell who looked more like a Japanese person between her and Yu Wanwan.

“None of your business.” Pu Tong and Yu Wanwan pushed the confused girl back.

“Don’t mess with Japanese netizens!”

“What are you planning?” Pu Tong felt a chill from her mischievous gaze.

“My physics homework seems unfinished…”

“I’ll do it!”

“And the Chinese dictation assignment…”

“I’ll do both and submit them!”

“Wait, I need to go to the bathroom.”

“I’ll go with you!”

Yu Wanwan stepped back and looked at him with disgust.

“Fine, go by yourself then, haha.”

“……”

Then he watched Yu Wanwan and Lin Yuxi walk away arm in arm.

Girls’ friendships were truly mysterious. If two boys did that, it would probably spread through the whole school in a day.

“Sigh… afraid of cameras? What kind of problem is that?”

“I don’t know. He avoids the cameraman. Even when he ignores me in class, it’s probably because of the filming angle…” Yu Wanwan complained.

“Maybe he’s just socially anxious and doesn’t want to be in the public eye,” Lin Yuxi said thoughtfully.

“Some people simply don’t like being celebrities. We should respect that.”

Then she frowned. “You’re not planning to use that against him, are you?”

“Wha—no! I’m not that bad!”

“Better not. Even jokes need boundaries.”

She knew Yu Wanwan too well…

“But there’s another possibility,” Lin Yuxi continued. “Maybe he just doesn’t want to be part of our world.”

“Our world…”

Yes. Their world—the world of idols, celebrities, and entertainers.

They were stars. But Pu Tong was just an ordinary person. Maybe from the beginning, he never wanted anything to do with them.

It was her who crossed the line…

Yu Wanwan’s eyes dimmed.

When she came back from the bathroom, something felt off.

It was as if she had deflated like a balloon.

But Pu Tong didn’t care. He focused on studying.

“Where’s your physics homework?”

“I’ll do it myself.”

“And the dictation?”

“I’ll write it myself.”

Suddenly, there seemed to be a distance between him and her.

But… that was good, right?

She probably wouldn’t disturb his studies anymore.

Chapter 1: The Entertainment Industry Is Too Deep—Studying Hard Is the Real Path “‘When You Are Young’—the variety show is actually being filmed at our school!” “I know that show! Isn’t it the one where young celebrities come in as transfer students and they film their daily lives in middle school?” “I heard Xie Mu is coming too! I’m so excited—he must look even better in real life than on TV!” Celebrities are coming to film a show at the school? Pu Tong listened to the girls discussing by the roadside and found it somewhat amusing. To think he would run into people from the same industry on his very first day after transmigrating. Others might find it novel, but for Pu Tong—who in his previous life had already been a bottom-tier celebrity—this “celebrity world” was nothing new. After all, in this era, even random nobodies could become celebrities. Most of them were just unknown 18th-tier artists with almost no recognition outside their fan circles. Unfortunately, Pu Tong had been exac...

Chapter 5: The Restorer

Chapter 5: Enemies Meet on a Narrow Road "I didn't take anything special. It was pretty much the same as the tests we usually had." Su Xiaoxiao thought for a moment before saying: "However, before the exam, our school organized a physical examination. Normally, they only measured height, weight, and things like that. But this time, they actually drew blood." "Brother, you should have seen it. Several boys in our class fainted at the sight of blood. They usually act so tough and boastful, but when it was time to have their blood drawn, they screamed like ghosts. It was hilarious." "Physical examination... and they drew blood too?" Su Xiaofan was stunned. However, he didn't think too deeply about it. High schools often organized physical examinations for students. It seemed to have nothing to do with university admissions. But Su Xiaofan still felt that something about his sister's special admission was strange. There were so many stu...

Chapter 2: This Celebrity Just Wants to Study

Chapter 2: Sitting at the Same Desk as the National Sweetheart There were noticeably more people lingering at the school gate than usual. Clearly, fans had rushed over after hearing the news. Looks like school life won’t be peaceful anymore. Pu Tong felt a headache coming on and quickly pulled Liu Neng away from the chaotic scene. “Brother Tong, there are so many fans!” Liu Neng looked around excitedly like someone who had never seen the world. “Uh-huh.” “You’re not even shocked?” “I am shocked. Totally shocked. Wuu wuu wuu.” Pu Tong deliberately acted overly emotional. Shocked? This? Although he had been a bottom-tier celebrity in his past life, he had at least seen the world. He had attended many events and witnessed plenty of crazy fans before—this was nothing more than a small scene. All he could say was: fan culture is terrifying. He rejected Liu Neng’s invitation to go to an internet café and instead went straight to a bookstore. The original owner of this body was the type who ...
